Audio Visual Rights Society of Nigeria

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) and the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) organized a National Workshop “Setting-up a Collective Management Organization in the Field of Audiovisual Works”, in Lagos, Nigeria, May 13, 2013.

This workshop was a continuation to joint collaboration in 2012, in April and September respectively. At the April meeting a decision in principle was made to establish a collective management organization (CMO) for film and TV rights holders. At the September meeting concrete steps were taken towards the establishment of a joint CMO. Memorandum and Articles of Association were presented, discussed and agreed in principle. The name of the CMO was decided to be Audio Visual Rights Society of Nigeria (AVRS).
