Audio Visual Rights Society of Nigeria (AVRS) has elected sensational Nollywood stars Monisa Chinda, Ejike Asiegbu, and Yemi Solade as members of the AVRS reconstituted Management Board.
The announcement came shortly after the 15-member Board was dissolved and fresh elections were held for a new Management Board of AVRS during the organisation’s Annual General Meeting held at the Banquet Hall, Lagos Airport Hotel on Thursday, 04 November 2021 in line with the amended memorandum and articles of association.
In his outgoing address as Chairman of AVRS, Mahmood Ali- Balogun thanked the members of AVRS for their continued support and appealed to them to selflessly continue to support the newly elected Board in taking AVRS to greater heights.
He also reminded the members that AVRS turned seven (7) years on October 22, 2021 following its historic approval by the Nigerian Copyright Commission as Nigeria’s sole collective management organisation for audiovisual works representing producers, directors, actors and screenwriters in the Nigerian film and movie industry. He said, “As you may know, seven (7) is the number of perfection, connoting growth, strength and the ability to overcome obstacles and challenges in our growth path.”
Apart from the election Monalisa Chinda, Ejike Asiegbu and Yemi Solade as first timers on the AVRS Board, the likes of Mahmood Ali-Balogun Jide Kosoko were re-elected to the Board of 12.
