AT STAKEHOLDERS FORUM 2019, AVRS GETS CHARGE TO LICENSE USERS

Key industry players and top stakeholders of the audiovisual sector of the Nigerian entertainment industry have charged the leadership of the Audiovisual Rights Society of Nigeria (AVRS) to ensure that it provides efficient and cost effective means of not only representing the right owners but also ensuring that right users begin to pay for rights for the benefit of practitioners of the industry.  The practitioners have the charge at the maiden stakeholders-users forum organized by the AVRS and held at Eko Hotel and Suites on March 27, 2019.

RMD, Emeka Mba, Obi Asika to Headline Maiden AVRS Stakeholders And Users Forum

Popular Actor Richard Mofe Damijo, former Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Emeka Mba and Chairman of Social Media Week, Nigeria Obi Asika will headline the maiden edition of the stakeholders and users forum organized the Audio Visual Rights Society of Nigeria (AVRS), Nigeria’s primal and sole Collective Management Organization (CMO) for cinematography and films. They will be joined by other prominent members of the audio-visual community at the event that is scheduled to hold at 10am on March 27 at the Eko Hotel and Suites on Victoria Island, Lagos.

Audio Visual Rights Society of Nigeria (AVRS) Ltd/Gte, Nigeria’s sole collective management organization for cinematograph films, held its 3rd Annual General Meeting at the AVRS Secretariat, Opebi Lagos on the 18th of September, 2018.  The AGM which also was an election AGM had rights owners and holders present and ably represented at the event.

Press Release: Mahmood Ali-Balogun’s 2nd Coming, Emerges AVRS Chairman

Prominent Nollywood Filmmaker, Mr. Mahmood Ali-Balogun has been elected as the chairman of Audio-Visual Rights Society of Nigeria (AVRS). Mahmood polled nine of the 15 directors’ votes against the incumbent chairman, Mr. Bond Emeruwa who has led the board since 2016.

The election which returned Mahmood Ali- Balogun as the chairman of AVRS took place at the AVRS Secretariat on the 15th of January, 2019. It was consequent upon the Company’s AGM/Board elections of September 16, 2018 that brought in new members to the AVRS Board.

Audio-Visual Rights Society Signs Right Agreement With Hotel Owners, Managers

The Audio-Visual Rights Society of Nigeria (AVRS) has signed a historic Audio visual right agreement with the Hotel owners and managers’ association of Lagos (HOMAL) at the prestigious EKO Hotel and Suites Lagos.
 
The Agreement, which took 3 (three) years of active deliberation and negotiation finally saw all parties agreeing on the need to compensate rights owners of audio-visual works for the commercial use of their works in Hotels and similar establishment.
