Copyright infringement: Court hears motion against Transcorp Hilton May 25

Justice Taiwo Obayomi Taiwo of a Federal High Court in Abuja will on Wednesday May 25, hear a motion for interlocutory injuction, seeking to restrain Transcorp Hilton from using its business arena for public performance or communication to the public of audiovisual works or Cinematograph films.
 
The application is coming on the heels of a suit filed by Audiovisual Rights Society Limited/Gte (AVRS) seeking declaratory reliefs and injuctions against the defendant.

As the doors to AVRS offices reopened across the country for its operations in 2022, Chairman, Audio Visual Rights Society of Nigeria (AVRS), Mr. Mahmood Ali-Balogun has said that 2022 will be a year of bumper growth in the Nigerian creative sector.

 

In his New Year message to members of AVRS spread across the country, Mr. Ali-Balogun asked the thousands of members of AVRS to see 2022 as a bumper year and a year of tremendous growth for AVRS members and their company.

Audio Visual Rights Society of Nigeria (AVRS) has elected sensational Nollywood stars Monisa Chinda, Ejike Asiegbu, and Yemi Solade as members of the AVRS reconstituted Management Board.

The announcement came shortly after the 15-member Board was dissolved and fresh elections were held for a new Management Board of AVRS during the organisation’s Annual General Meeting held at the Banquet Hall, Lagos Airport Hotel on Thursday, 04 November 2021 in line with the amended memorandum and articles of association.
